Purple hearts and racing horses and terrible painting skills

Don't you like when title tells it all? Some months ago I showed you a folder I decorated and promised that I'll be making some more. And yup, here they are! These are simpler, don't have a cover basically just a piece of cardboard with a snap. I like how the purple one turned, non of the photos got the colour quite right, but it's a lovely purple and I'm so happy I was able to mix the right colour. With the second I decided to be a little bit more adeventures with the paints, and it didn't turn that well. It's the same on both sides, so only one photo for the ponies

Преди няколко месеца се похвалих с обновената си папчица и се зарекох, че експериментът ще бъде повторен. Речено - сторено - намацах още две. Тези са по-простички, общо взето парче картон с щипка. Визуално предишната с маковете определно ми е фаворит, но и тези не са съвсем зле, особено лилавата. Успях да ѝ докарам цвета на боята точно като този на салфетката, макар че нито една от снимките не го показва точно. С втората пък, реших да поекспериментирам с боядисването, резултат от което  е не особено успешен, но болезнено видим. Понитата са еднакви и от двете страни, така че си заслужиха само една снимка :)

The art of flower making without setting anything on fire

So... back in March I suddenly decided I want to learn how to make fabric flowers by flaming the tissue with a candle. The idea was to make some and give them away for Woman's day. Well I didn't go that far and made a total of three. And later, while painting my folders, I just decided to paint an empty candy box too - because when doing painting and decoupage, you better do them all at once, since the brushes are such a pain to wash, lol.
 I didn't set anything on fire, though it turned that the pink fabric I picked wasn't the melting type, but the burning. Still no casualties! Btw, the candle was smelled of sweet cherries, and so did the flowers!

 Някъде през март реших, че искам да се науча да правя цветя от плат, като ги обгарям със свещ. Идеята беше да направя купчина, и да ги раздам за осми март. Идеята не напредна много, защото направих в крайна сметка само три, едното от които загубих. После, докато си боядисвах папките, награбих и една метална кутия от бонбони за смучене, и намазах и нея. Когато човек тръгне да боядисва и лакира, просто не си струва да е само един предмет - четките толкова мъчно се чистят, че по-добре да наклепаш повечко неща, за да си струва чистенето.
Между другото, при манипулациите със свещта жертви нямаше, въпреки че се оказа, че розовият плат, който бях избрала е от горящите, а не от топящите се. Но свещта беше с много сладък черешов аромат, който се пренесе и на цветята :)

Poppies

I've been feeling yellow this month. So I decided to grab a brush and decoupage some! My victim became a folder, that was plain ugly and black, and after applying some make up, it turned into...

Looking good, right? I so love the result! The inside is not covered so well, as I ran out of yellow paint. I'm so doing this with the rest of my folders! Oh, I already have some paper tissues in mind :)
But one thing I need to fix - the paint is steady everywhere, execpt for the edge, where is the folding. I did this about 10 days ago and using it every day in Uni since then, and now the paint on the fold is starting to fall. I wonder how to prevent it :/ I painted the folder as it was open - maybe next time I will do so when it's closed and see how it works.
Btw, you can see my sheep box in the last picture! (I got it from a Happy meal last month. Can't resist a sheep)
Oh, and if you're wondering about the little conversation in the beginning of the post, it was between me and a collegue last Friday morning - featuring giraffes too!

Dislamer! No giraffes were harmed or suffered from anything as a result from eating poppies. Actually, no poppies were eaten.

Mentioning my bday, some of the orders I placed around my burthday started coming - finally! Yesterday I picked two Anchor stamped images - they didn't have them on stock so I had to wait for them for quite some time. As you can see, they are both winter themed - but well, it was winter back then! I tried working on a stamped image only once and didn't like it much, but I am willing to give it a try again. I asked the stams to be kitted with beads instead of thread. I've seen the results, and they are quite lovely. Not as much as the partially beaded pictures, but pretty anyway, and more than twice or trice  cheaper too! I have some kits too (including the Kiss I posted about when framing the Castle) I hope they arrive soon!

Не се безпокойте! Никакви жирафи не пострадаха след този разговор, проведен в петък сутринта между мен и една колежка ;) Той се отнасяше за папката ми с макове и облеклото ми, макар че точно в онзи момент цялата ми армия от жирафи беше останала в съблекалните.
От началото на месеца ми беше едно жълто... Затова хванах четка и боичка, и лакче и салфетка, и хубаво префасонирах една стара, черна, и общо взето грозна папка, докато стана жълта и макова. И честно казано, влюбих се в резултата! Вече даже планирам как да обработя всичките си останали папки, и съм си набелязала салфетки даже. Само едно нещо има, което ми прави проблем - навсякъде боята е хванала здраво, само на сгъвката започна да се лющи. Та в момента размишлявам как и дали може да се избегне това. Тази папка боядисах преди десетина дни, и го правих, докато тя беше разгъната. Така и съхна. Мисля си следващия път да опитам, докато е сгъната. Може би така, след като изсъхне в друго положение боята, няма да бъде подложена на толкова напрежение :/

Започнаха да ми пристигат и разните поръчки, с които се разглезих покрай рождения си ден. Вчера си прибрах две щампи на Анхор - нямаше ги тогава в наличност и трябваше да чакам да ги доставят, и тя се проточи. Но най-накрая дойдоха:) На зимна тематика са, и малко странно изглеждат предвеликденско - но тогава си беше зима, и още как. Досега веднъж само съм се опитвала да работя по щампа, и в крайна сметка се отказах, но реших да пробвам пак. Помолих да ми ги комплектоват с мъниста, а не с конци. Виждала съм как изглежда подобна щампа, изпълнена с мъниста, и резултатът е доста симпатичен. Е, не е чак толкова изящен като частично бродираните изображения, но пак е доста готино, пък и този вариант е два-три пъти по-евтин. Иначе, и някои комплекти има да пристигат. Другарчето на Замъка - Целувката, е един от тях :)

Three essential substances

Chocolate, tea and coffee. The things I'm going to show you all revolve around these three. It's a present I made for a friend from book forums, who studies chemistry. It was for her birthday in December, but we couldn't meet, so I added some other things to the bag.
First is a calendar.. and I so love how it turned. On every page it has a tea bag with a different kind of tea, according to the zodiac sign (the bag opens from the bottom and so the tea can be used wthout unglueing the zodiac picture), a one month callendar pad and a tag saying "Janyary books", "February books" and so on. On the back of every pade there are few memo sheets with bunnies, that are supposed to serve as a mini book diary - just to mark the titles and eventually the dates. The calendar turned a little bulky at the one side, but after all the tea is drank, it will be just right. All the pages are tied with a ribbon, that can be adjusted.

First I thought of making it just with different kinds of tea but the fact I saw this astral tea at the shop moved everything to a whole new level :) I really love how it turned, even of not all the tags correspond as well to the pages as I would want it.

Шоколад, кафе и чай. Предметите, които ще ви покажа в този пост се въртят все около тези три вещества, без които не можем. СТава дума за подарък за книжна съфорумка, която учи химия. Трябваше да и го дам на рождение и ден през декември, но не можахме да си видим, и аз продължих да добавям разни неща.
Най-напред книжно чаеният календар. Идеята за такова нещо се породи в мен от предизвикателството Чай и книги на The book garden и фактът, че в магазина случайно попаднах на този зодиакален чай определено помогна идеята да се дооформи. На всяка страничка има календарче за месеца, пакетче чай с различен вкус, съответстващ на зодията (пакетчетата се отварят отдолу, така че чаят може да се извади без картинката да се отлепя. Може да се остане като украса дори и след като чаят си е отдавна изпит) и малко тагче, на което пише "Януарски книги", "Мартенски.." и т.н. . А на гърба на страничката има няколко листчета , които да служат като мини читателско дневниче - само да си отбелязваш заглавието, автора и датата. Въпреки че не всички тагчета се връзват идеално със страниците, много ми хареса как се получи календара. Малко е бухнал от едната страна, където е струпан всичкия чай, но след като се махнат пакетчетата, ще слегне и ще стане тъкмо. Страниците са вързани с панделка, така че ще може да се регулира при нужда.

Castle almost there and a box to show!

Hello there dears!
Not that I haven't post for a time long wnough for you to miss me, but all of these were done almost right after my previous post, so I somehow feel lazy not blogging about them.
Lets start with the box!
Yesterday one of my sisters best friends had a bday, so on Monday my sister asked me to make a fancy box to put the present in (a watch). I agreed, of course, and this is what I came up with:

As you see, I went after the freebie as promised . I just really like this colour combo. Somehow it has chococlate in it. The oroginal idea was to just printh the paper pattern on a sheet of cardboard and find a box  pattern to fold. But then I felt somewhat brave and decided, why not play with paper mechanics? Ok, mechanincs may be a bit too much, it's just building a box without a pattern. I just printed two of the sheets-supposed-to-be, and attached the box body to them. Not even very neatly, so I had to use the ribbon to cover it. But then again, I think it turned rather nice. I chose a sheet with blank space on the top, so that my sister and her friends could write a peronal massage, or stamp it. Guess what she chose. And it was a fast work, too. Actually the hardest part was the printer settings.

And after the box, onto the beading! The castle itself is almost ready, only the butterflies are left. This photo here is made on Tuesday, and since then I worked more on it. I'll take a pic tomorrow, who knows, maybe by then there will be a butterfly or two, too! The reason I'm so eager to work on the castle, is that I found out that I can use my smallet cross stitch needle instead on the beading needle. Yup, that's right. Blunt needle vs sharp needle, and the blunt wins. The fabric of the Castle is very soft linen of a high count with the picture stamped on it, and it's actually not only possible to work with a cross stitch needle, but very easy too!As of now, only a small part on the right of that face is left, so I'll be starting the butterflies very soon!

Здравейте! Не е минало много време от предния пост, но на мен ми се струва, че  е - ащото тези снимки ги правих някъде понеделник-вторник, и сега ме гризе съвестта, че не поствах веднага.
Та какво имаме за отчет - най-напред - кутийка! Една от най-добрите приятелки на сестра ми имаше рожден ден, и тя ме помоли да направя кутийка, в която да поднесат подаръка (часовник). Естествено, приех, и набързо измайстроих.
Всичките елементи са от онова кафяво-синьо фрийби, за което писах в поста с блог кендито - freebie. Не знам защо, но в него има нещо шоколадено, и затова веднага си го харесах и исках да го ползвам за нещо. Първоначалната идея беше да принтирам основните хартии, да намеря схема за кутийка и така да я сглобя. Вместо това обаче реших да поекспериментирам - принтирах два елемента, предназначени за странички от скрабук албум, и ги скрепих едно към друго с около сантиметър високото тяло на кутийката. Е, не стана безупречно, всъщност синята панделка я добавих, за да скрия нескопосаното залепяне, но с нея крайният резултат е доста добър. Нарочно избрах за капаче лист с празно място, за да могат сестра ми и приятелките и да напишат лично поздравление или да сложат печатче по избор.

Другата точка от дневния ред е замъкът. А всъщност самия замък е почти готов - остава ми само малко парченце отдясно на онова лице, и почвам пеперудите. Големият ми ентусиазъм да работя върху този проект, се дължи на факта, че открих, че мога да ползвам игла за бродиране вместо игла за мъниста. Игла с тъп връх срещу с остър - победа! Сега не си изпобождам пръстите и работата върви доста по-бързо и весело. Та защо не - една пеперудка утре. :)

And in the end the awesome present my sister's friends gave me. I've always wanted one of these. Whoever got the idea is a genius. On the display are now the stiched cat, and the awesome bracelets the girl from Romania, Anjahr, sent me. I don't have pretty ones made by me to display, and I just like to have them like this, as a reminder what an awesome friend she is.
И най-накрая страхотния подарък който ми направиха приятелките на сестра ми. Винаги съм искала такава дъска :)) Който се е сетил, е чиста проба гений. Сега са забучени котарака, и страхотните гривнички, които ми прати Анита (Anjahr) от Румъния. Аз сега сега нямам красиви за показване, а и искам да си ги гледкам, и да ми напомнят каква страхотна приятелка е :)

Paper box

One of the another paper uses, remember?
It's a box for the jewelry I'm giving my chemistry teacher. I was getting a little tired of the origami ones, especially since the new models don't seem to work right. So this box is glued, not folded, and yet the origami was more stable than it. The paper is a freebie again, this time from Dinphy, and the box is trimmed with silverish laced ribbon. While putting it on place, I managed to glue my fingers too. From the bright side, they didn't stay glued to the box, but they're still grey on dots and feel like sand paper.
Inside is the black silver kit necklace + bracelet, because in the end I decided it's more beautiful than the golden one.

Та бях споменала, че при нужда на цветните хартийки мога да им намеря пролижение :) Tази хартия обаче пак е фрийби/безплатниче ^___^ от Dinphy . Иначе това е кутийка за подаръка ми за госпожата по химия. Почнаха да ми омръзват оригами кутийките, най-вече защото новите модели не мога да ги докарам правилно. Така че тази кутийка си е залепена, и въпреки това по-малко стабилна от оригамитата. Докато лепях сребристата панделка, успях да си залепя и пръстите. Погледнато положително, те вече не са неделимо цяло с кутийката. От друга страна обаче, пазят спомена, т.е. сиви на точки са и с текстурата на шкурка.
Вътре е черният сребрист комплект гривна плюс гердан, защото в крайна сметка реших, че е по-хубав от златния.

Killing dust bunnies and trying various stuff

Those dust bunnies have gone to a better place, I'm sure of it.
As a result, now my room is cleaner that it has been for the whole last semester. *here I wrote a whole paragraph listing what I've trown away and various exam complaints, be happy I deleted it XP *
As I was tidying I tried some fast stuff:
First was a little try in decoupage. I was storing some folders and had the sudden urge to glue something on one

I used the cover of an old notebook. I loved the covers of these notebooks so didn't throw them away (kept the covers only) although I had absolutely no idea if I can use them for something. I have this problem, sometimes keeping things that >might< be of use. Anyway it seemed like a good idea and I had decoupage lacquer and glue. I peeled the upper layer with the picture from the thick cardboard and covered the whole thing generously with the lacquer.
Second is Rub-ons After getting the pretty jar with the butterfly rub ons from Cat, I thought it looks awesome. And then I got two sheets of rub-ons as a present. So I have them, and I had my previous TUSAL jar, and decided to try. It was...
Exhausting! >.<""""
My, it's so hard to transfer them on the glass, especially compared to the paper! I was able to rub only two before giving up >.>

I may add more on the other sides of the jar if I decide that my strength has recovered.

Also, I've been trying to put some order in my folders with pattern I have on the computer. It's a total, absolute mess. I have no idea where I've saved the half of it, and whenever I want to find something, I'm absolutely lost. How do you store the patterns you have? I'm not sure how to classify them. First I tried to classify them by designer/site they come from. With folders like "Dork Stitch", or "Dawn", or "Brabara Ana" I pretty much know what I'll find in there. But - there were too many sites and designers with very various works so I couldn't associate certain name with the content, and too many lonesome patterns were going to the folder "Others". Result - can't find what I search for! Then I tried separating the themes, but this too was quite hard to do, as one pattern can fit several categories - it can feature bunnies, and babies, and hearts - which theme should I chose as a main one? Often the result was a big folder named "Personage human/animal" with everything in it >.>>>
I've been thinking how to put some order, and I've been thinking of using a tagging program. Like this, one pattern can fit several criteria. I've checked some such programs, but the one thing I didn't like about them, is that they were location based. Like this if move the files, I will lose the tags, and I was hoping to be able to freely move, and copy the files to another computer, without losing such data. Like the music tags in Winamp - they're in the file, and the program can read them doesn't matter on which computer they have been created, or where on the disk are they now...
I'm still wondering what to do, so if you share any ideas, I'll be very grateful!
